CANDIDACY FOR ENROLLMENT AT CPS
What’s The Purpose?
The candidacy process outlined below is designed to prepare students to succeed in a learning environment that places the ownership for learning on the student. CPS is not a good fit for every student. The program requires sustained motivation, discipline, and the ability to work closely with multiple adults and peers to make progress. By completing the candidacy process, students are able to demonstrate the desire and ability necessary to successfully work toward a diploma at CPS. This process also helps us to identify if we are able to meet the specific needs of your student.
How Does It Work?
The steps in the candidacy process are designed to be completed in a reasonable time period, the tasks will typically take 2-3 weeks to complete. The steps must be completed in the order in which they are laid out on the candidacy checklist. If enrolled, students will earn one General Elective credit toward graduation for having completed candidacy. Assistance with completing the candidacy process is available on a drop in basis at CPS anytime Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
