Overview
The purpose of this program is to develop community and introspection through outdoor education. Students will play an active role in preparing for trips and will learn skills throughout the experience. The idea that the parts make up the whole will be a foundation for developing the idea of community and moving towards a common goal. The hope is that the community developed on trips will translate back into the classroom, and more importantly, to the overall culture of CPS. Students will have the opportunity to go on several different types of trips throughout the year. Trips may include camping, backpacking, kayaking, rafting, climbing, biking, snowshoeing, and service learning.
Goals
Students will become self-sufficient in all facets of preparing for and executing a mindful, environmentally safe, and successful outdoor adventure.
Students will utilize 21st century skills in order to be successful citizens, and more importantly, leaders in our global community.
Student groups will build relational capacity.
Mindfulness and self-reflection will be a focus prior to and during trips.
Opportunities
